Nonprofit organizations are often penalized in the insurance industry by the most inspiring aspects of their missions; the engagement of volunteers. Volunteerism is a growing pillar of society with engagement rates increasing nationally every year. However insurance carriers are often reluctant to offer coverage to nonprofits that extensively engage volunteers for fear that an injury to a volunteer could result in a workers compensation claim, or an accident caused by a volunteer generates a general liability claim. Conservation United works with carriers to tailor the strongest possible coverage for volunteer accidents, including medical coverage and accidental death and dismemberment. We also are partners in connecting nonprofits to resources promoting best practices when working with volunteers.
