- How far in advance should I request a quote?Conservation United can provide a quote at any point in your policy year. Ideally, we recommend that you contact us at least two months before policy expiration, however we can work quickly to quote if you are much closer to your policies expiration/renewal dates.
- Is Conservation United a nonprofit organization? We consider Conservation United to be a “social enterprise” (www.thegoodtrade.com) We are not an IRS- recognized nonprofit organization, but our very mission is to support the common good by serving and protecting our nonprofit clients and striving to save our partners money in the process. We believe that insurance is one of the least understood aspects of nonprofit management and that organizations are entirely too often left exposed to uninsured loss or squander hard earned income on overpriced policies. Conservation United is revolutionizing the way nonprofit organizations are represented and perceived in the insurance industry. We believe every dollar we save in insurance premium is at least as valuable as a dollar earned through donations or grants. We are also giving back by working through partners such as American Trails to create specialized funds to support nonprofit causes.
- Will my nonprofit always save money by working with Conservation United?Conservation United has a positive track record of aligning and aggregating nonprofits with similar models and risk profiles, the result of which is often reductions in premium. However, no insurance broker could honestly claim to save every prospective client money. Conservation United believes that the most important reason to work with us is our expertise in analyzing your coverage within context of your field activities and exposures. Eliminating gaps in coverage and accurately reflecting your organization’s workers comp class codes and general liability ratings can actually increase your premiums, but dramatically enhance your peace of mind.
- Does it cost anything to receive a quoteConservation United will perform a free analysis of your policies, coverage, and exclusions. Quoting is free and there is no obligation to bind with us.
- Does Conservation United only serve nonprofit organizations? We specialize in serving nonprofits, but will consider representing companies that demonstrably support nonprofit organizations in their communities, or whose businesses, like our own, clearly provide a service or product needed by nonprofits. We acknowledge that this is a somewhat subjective standard. Examples of for-profit companies that Conservation United serves include any affiliate member or sponsor of an alliance or association that represents nonprofit organizations, vendors who provide nonprofit discounts to their clients, businesses providing services that demonstrably create jobs in the nonprofit sector, and businesses willing to donate at least 10 percent of any premium Conservation United saves to nonprofit causes. Please understand that Conservation United must also feel comfortable that we truly understand your business model. Landscape design companies, private restoration companies, outdoor outfitters, adventure guides, etc. represent industries that Conservation United understands and which often overlap and support the nonprofit sector. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like to explore whether Conservation United has the expertise to quote your business.
- Does Conservation United provide waivers or other risk transfer forms?Conservation United is not a law firm, however we do have access to a deep library of documents related to nonprofit management and risk management and pool a variety of manuals and resources to share. We are always happy to provide examples of such templates, with the clear disclaimer that they are presented only for your organization’s due consideration, ideally supported by review by your nonprofit attorney.
- Is it easy to request an insurance quote?Conservation United distinguishes ourselves by our service. We work with organizations as a genuine partner, taking the time to get to know you and your operations and exposures. We maximize our benefit to your organization if you likewise invest the time to meet in person and/or by phone, to address detailed questions as they arise, to share internal policies and documents, etc. However, as a former nonprofit founder and CEO myself, I also respect your time and recognize that you must balance multi-faceted daily responsibilities. We have created an Express Quote option through which you can fill out basic information online, generally requiring less than 30 minutes of effort, to generate a quote. We will give Express Quotes our full attention but minimize calls and communications to the level you desire.
